Is this a hard team to make as a 7th grader?

I have heard and read on here that it is hard to make these teams in 7th and 8th grade because these teams are already set.

Boys or girls team? It all depends on your child's basketball skills/experience. In general, any A team will be hard to make. Players at this level play basketball year round with AAU and FCYBL. However, there's a good chance to make the B team.

The girls 7th grade team is really good and has a great coach

It looks like last year they had a tier 1 team and a tier 2 team. their second boys 7th grade team will get bumped down to tier 3 based on its record. some kids don't want to move down and play in a lower tier so there's a chance a few spots could be open maybe on that team. your kid won't make the A team unless he is a superstar b/c kids will be trying to move up from the B team as well as not leaving the A team.

I looked at their site. They are having open gyms for 7th grade boys so that means they at least think there could ba few spots open, take your kid to all the open gyms.
