I think we are at the end...

My mother had a really horrible fall a few months ago. Broke her pelvis, cracked her head, was unconscious for at least 2 hours before my brother found her. She's been in the hospital and honestly healing well and joking around.

Last week she was really confused. Thought my father was still alive as well as my sister who passed away.

Today, she was not doing well. I am not ok. I know this happens, but to see my strong, beautiful, wonderful mother in this shape is ripping a hole in my heart.

So sorry, OP. There is nothing easy about it.

I’m so sorry. I know how painful and shocking it is with the swift decline.

Test for UTI, make sure she is hydrated.

That definitely sounds like the end. Make sure her affairs are in order.

Make sure she is hydrated.
Have a urine culture done. UTIs look like dementia in the old. Often no pain.

Make sure her doctors know about the abrupt change in her mental state. This sounds more like a uti rather than the end of life change.

+1. This happened to my mom.

Brain bleed?

Is she still in the hospital? Request a scan.

My mom deteriorated into someone unrecognizable when she was hospitalized for a broken pelvis after a fall. Hospital delirium is a thing. I’m hoping maybe your mom is just having some issues being in that setting. I’m wishing you all the best OP.
