Are there any new (or old) Bethesda restaurants you’d recommend for a nice birthday dinner for 4?
We haven’t been to a lot of places since the pandemic. We like Jacques Bistro in Great Falls but can’t drive out there. Maybe Bistro Provence? It doesn’t have to be French but a bit special. And not exclusively seafood. Also, not too noisy. |
| Persimmon on Wisconsin Avenue |
| Rule out Aventino. Delicious but very very loud. |
I was intrigued by Aventino review but hate noisy restaurants even more than ever. I may give Persimmon another try. Only been once and was underwhelmed. |
| It is hard to find a quiet restaurant these days. Persimmon does fit the bill- so does Matisse which is about 5 min from Bethesda in Friendship Heights. |
| Melina or Julii at Pike and Rose. |
Julii is great but it can get loud if that's a concern. Melina, especially if you request a booth or a table beyond the bar area, would be better. Both are delicious and the service has been great the few times I've been. |
| Aventino is one of the better (if not best) restaurants in downtown Bethesda. I did not find it too loud on either of my two visits. |

The review in the Washington post says you need to speak with a raised voice. That means it’s loud |
