by arguing that people should be able to change party at the last minute before the election? Wow, that sounds pretty desperate.

He is indeed desperate. Gray won the Ward 5 straw poll and leads in must polls, but not by much. It will be close. |
Why did Adrian dismiss the residents of Ward 5 last night. He never showed up. Gray was there. The strawpoll was held in a Michigan Park church. |
Mayor Fenty vetoed a bill last week that would have had the District in compliance with federal law with respect to "vote buying". The justification was to ensure that the rules were static for this political season. OK fine.
But, and this is a big but, he now wants to completely change the face and strategy for this DEMOCRATIC primary by allowing all voters to participate. WTF is all I have to say. He and his administration are so desperate as to propose the dramatic upheaval of the rules just weeks before the primary. |
I'm not a Fenty supporter, but in fairness, I think there is a long (if not always honorable) tradition of candidates and parties of all political stripes supporting whatever helps get them votes, even if they opposed the exact same thing two years ago. |
But this wasn't two years ago, this was last week! |
Same principle, Adrian is just quicker on his feet than most. |
It does not seem to be a result of nimbleness. He realizes that he is more attractive to republicans than his opponent, so it's to his advantage. That's calculating, not nimble. And this is definitely in the "not honorable" category. |
The Board of Elections just said "no" to Fenty's proposal to let unaffiliated voters participate in the Democratic primary. Big loss for Fenty.

That's a relief. |
