Infertility Support and Discussion

Okay, so the subject sounds a bit funny...
But I make a cappuccino (1 shot esprsso and milk) at home almost everyday in the morning. My Husband and I are TTC our second (We are both 28ish) child, and it is taking a wee bit longer than hoped for. Anyway, someone freaked me out and told me that caffeine can cause miscarriages and that I should cut out my morning drink. Sooo...now that I am 100% freaked out, should I swear off the nectar of the gods for a bit? |

According to my OB office, a cup of coffee is fine.

| Up to 3 caffinated drinks a day is fine. And at your age, the risk of miscarriages is so low, this thought should not even bother you. Good luck! |
|
I had two miscarriages at her age, and know a couple under 30 like this too, not unheard of
Op I think you are fine with your drink |
| you could switch to decaf or half decaf if you are concerned but as pp said 1 cup is most likely okay. |
|
Thanks everyone!
I *just* got a positive pregnancy test so I'm going to cut out the cappuccino's!
|
| congrats and for the record decaf is more toxic than regular coffee so if you're concerned about caffeine cut out coffee all together but don't switch to decaf. |
PP, could you elaborate on those details? I know decaf isn't perfect, but what specifically have you heard about it? |
|
go ahead and have the coffee - it won't make a difference. Truly, some of the unhealthiest people on the planet get pregnant. we do everything we can to have a baby, legs in the air, no sushi, no soft cheese, no caffeine, blah blah blah, it's all we have to control in a process that unfortunately is largely out of our control despite our best efforts.
so, enjoy your cappuccino or a glass of wine, enjoy your life as best you can while TTC and most especially, try not to turn sex into a chore. good luck! |
| ... like the crack addicted heroin shooter that is too high too care that she's pregnant... yes, yes, so true, unfortunately... |
| If the person who mentioned that decaf is toxic could please elaborate, I would greatly appreciate it. I am TTC and have substituted coffee with decaf. What are the risks? Many thanks. |
