Does anyone have insight into the Revolution Sports Academy? Are they trying to be like IMG or are they a homeschool enrichment that is sports focused? The website it light on details. https://varevolution.com/revolution-sports-academy/
Has it actually launched? |
| Just read their Bio. Nothing impressive. |
| Yes, it's launched with a small class. It aims to mimic European academies where players go to school and focus on soccer training throughout the day. I beleieve there is a mix of online and in classroom instruction. |
| So it's like an MLS residential academy, but really expensive and with no track record? |

| Heard rumors that The St. James is trying to go this route as well. |
I think they did. Saw something on instagram during the first week of school. |
Every single business is a money grab. Capitalism. |

ST James launched, I attended the Zoom info session. They had about 15-20 commitments back over the summer. Unsure of actual enrollment. Was about $29k per year to start. Running off of a Hockey Model (Total Package Hockey).

Sure, but every academy starts with no track record. Not sure the age of the oldest student but he or she will be the example of success or failure for the academy. It's going to take 5-10 years to build the track record and reputation for people to question the value of the academy. Even MLS academy had to prove out the success if the program. |
Welcome back Mr. MONEY GRAB. It's been a while. |
|
It did launch, their day includes morning soccer training, then school classroom that is online with in person support as well. The grade level is middle and high school both girls and boys. They have about 15 to 20 students.
I attending the information session to gather the information, they are partnering with SAI and DC United for the school. They also made renovations to part of the complex to accommodate the school. Like any other business they are in this to make money not go under. Also, like any other business you have to start from a base level and take about 5 years to show growth. But, I guess like any other VRSC topic on here there will be haters. |
Is it only soccer players? Any other elite sport athletes? Would you consider the current peer group "elite"? |
except European academies have already selected incredible players to attend sounds like this will only be for who can afford...which means substandard players also why NCSL opposition? |
|
You do have to attend a try out, you don't just sign up and attend.
Yes, only soccer players. As far as elite, I am not going to comment because everyone on here thinks anyone at VRSC is NOT elite despite what their level. So I am not even going to put my opinion out there to be torn apart. |
