Any recommendations for a gym on Capitol Hill?
I’ve done classes at Pure Barre and Reformation Fitness but I’d love just an old fashioned gym. Like treadmills + weights and some variety of classes. Not sure that I am really interested in going down the Orange Theory route but let me know if you like it. I’m not a gym rat but I did go 2-3 times a week before the pandemic and want to get back into it. |
I go to One Life Capitol Hill at 3rd and G St SE. Worth checking out. Don't know if it's the best gym in Capitol Hill (and I doubt it's the cheapest) but it's worth investigating: https://www.onelifefitness.com/gyms/capitol-hill
It is in what was once one of the first (or the first) public schools for kids freed from slavery. I wish it was still a school - but it does give you that feeling of an old fashioned gym. The school was named for JR Giddings, an anti-slavery Congressman from Ashtabula, Ohio, and the name is still on the building. |
I did OneLife on and off for years, while it was still results and then Sport/Health or something. I really like it—it’s an interesting building and has non-gym vibes. But if you don’t take classes, it’s really expensive for what you’re getting. I switched to Planet Fitness in Ivy City and it’s like 1/8 the cost. |
