I moved from DC almost 20 years ago and have been following along on DCUM ever since. Looking to introduce my elementary school aged kids to the city later this fall, and hoping for a hotel that is family-friendly (not a B&B) and ideally has an indoor pool. I'm looking at the area around 23rd street based on walkability to old haunts and major monuments, but open to other areas of interest or specific hotel recommendations. I lived in Logan Circle way back when and I know the city has changed so much since I was last there, so there may be entire neighborhoods that I should be considering for us to explore. I'd prefer to spend <$400 for a room with 2 Queens but am flexible there.

When we did a similar trip in 2018 we stayed at the Embassy Suites in Crystal City and it worked out really well. |
The Jefferson can be pricey but has deals every now and then. I did a staycation in a room with two queens and paid $400/night. It’s right in the middle of everything and has such lovely service.

No pool, but the Lyle is nice and very family friendly. |
The Watergate has a great pool and you can walk to Kennedy center, along the river, Georgetown |
During a home renovation we stayed at "Hyatt Place Washington Dc/National Mall" and it was just what you're asking for. |
Embassy suites on 22nd (or maybe it’s 23rd) and N. |
Depending on the time of year would you consider an outdoor pool? I lived in NW DC for years and when I go back I like staying at the Omni. It’s easy to get downtown (can walk to the mall from metro center and you don’t have to change lines) but a lot of space to unwind when you’re done for the day. I’ve stayed there and swum well into October. |
I'd be happy for an outdoor pool if there's one that's open after Columbus day! |
