Grades on ParentVue?

Anonymous
I often receive email notifications from ParentVue that a teacher has graded my child's assignment but more than not, I cannot see what the grade is in ParentVue. I look in "grade book" and also check MyMCPS Classroom and usually don't see anything. I can see a note in MyMCPS classroom that an assignment has been graded but cannot see the grade. In prior years, I thought that meant that the assignment was a paper copy and therefore not visible online but I don't think that's case now.

What is the point of notifying me that an assignment has been graded if the online system does not show the grade? Or is the grade accessible in another way? I thought that I had adjusted the notification settings to contact me only when grades fall below 70 percent but I don't think that's working. I can't really tell though because I also cannot see what the grades are.

I'm so sick of the ParentVue notifications--they clog my inbox and I can never find the information that the email reports to have been loaded into ParentVue. Has anyone else figured this out?

Those emails with subject line "Assignment Graded" are not coming from ParentVue, they're from Canvas (MyMCPS Classroom). It takes a variable amount of time to sync the grades from Canvas into ParentVue.

Thank you. Doesn't that mean I should be able to see the grade in Canvas (MyMCPS Classroom) though? I've looked in Canvas but don't see grades, just a note that an assignment has been graded.

No, you may not. Grades may be not viewable depending on the teacher or school. Many have them turned off in canvas since the official gradebook is Synergy. (StudentVue)

My "Assignment Graded" emails contain the score right within the email itself [score: 10.0 out of 10.0]

Interesting but that isn't true for everyone. I just double checked and the recent "Assignment Graded" emails that I received do not specify the score, either in the title or within the email.

If you go into your account on Canvas, you can adjust the Notifications settings. There's an option to "include scores when alerting about grades." That will make the emails you receive include the grades so you don't have to search around on Canvas.

+1 Mine definitely don't say the score itself. I just click on the link it says to click and then unless I login as my kid, I can't get in.

Thanks--is logging into Canvas the same as logging into MyMCPS classroom? Or ParentVue?

Another day another ParentVue discussion. Sigh.
OP - you've already received a few helpful responses. On PV, the grades on the page with grades is cut off, isn't it. So ridonc.

Maybe if the MCPS interface didn't look like it was designed by 1990s stoners, parents would have an easier time with it.

Canvas = MyMCPS Classroom (which you can get to after first logging into ParentVue)

+1 Or if those automatic notifications that parents receive from Canvas led to links that actually functioned for parents rather than students.

FYI those canvass grades aren’t always accurate. Like if a test has 10 multiple choice and 2 short answers, canvass may auto grade the mutiple choice and give a zero in the answers. Or sometimes it grades a student wrong for typing 1. 2 instead of 1.2 and the teachers need to manually adjust it.
