| I cannot find private sellers. FB marketplace are individuals selling salvage title vehicles, high mileage and some of the reviews left on them is something that I don't want to deal with. |
| try craigslist |
| If you're not desperate, start looking around your neighborhood. This is my plan. I'm waiting out a couple of older neighbors who I think will want to upgrade soon and have cars with pretty low mileage because they don't take driving trips. |
I think I will run I to the situation as FB Marketplace but I'll snoop Craiglist. |
| I would only buy used from an individual if it were a family member or neighbor. There are so many scams on Facebook and such. I don't even get how these ads are allowed. |

I would not try Craigslist. Too many cars with problems that owners can’t trade in for the value they think car is worth. You'd be looking for needle in haystack.
Are you working with strict budget? Best used cars are ones coming off lease. Those are usually few years old. Scour reputable dealerships for trade ins. Best for buck is finding car you want at a different brand dealership ( a Toyota at a Mazda dealership) but this is nitpicking. Do your homework, research the carfax and always get a pre purchase inspection from independent shop of YOUR choosing. |
| Carsdirect. Most of the Penske owned dealerships are on there and they tend to sell used cars cheaper. I got a great deal on a acura from a Penske owned land rover/jaguar dealership. Sales guy said Penskes philosophy is to take in trades to sell new range rovers, then just unload it asap. |
