OP, something is not right about how you performed the sort from that website. At least, it isn't obvious to me, though I only glanced at the site.
As an aside, some schools in the list do not offer an undergraduate business degree. |
| So Georgetown is worse than Bismark State with a 90%+ admissions rate, and an SAT range of 810–1250. I guess that's who Georgetown views as a peer school |
Many do offer business specialties, which is perhaps why they make the list. As an example, you can major in finance at Brown (or at least specialize in it...not sure how they characterize things). Below is the list of courses they offer: ECON0710 Financial Accounting ECON1710 Investments I ECON1720 Corporate Finance ECON1730 Venture, Capital, Private Equity, and Entrepreneurship ECON1740 Mathematical Finance ECON1750 Investments II ECON1760 Financial Institutions ECON1770 Fixed Income Securities ECON1780 Corporate Strategy ECON1790 Corporate Governance and Management ECON1830 Behavioral Finance |
Well, if the bulk of the graduates go work in Oil & gas and make $100k+...yes, the school will rank very highly. This list is purely based on their income metrics. |
|
All these ranking seem pretty pointless. Villanova over UPenn?
Just send your kid to a college that is right for your child. Enough with these ranking. |
+1 Northwestern does NOT have an undergrad business program. They do have an Econ major. Plus I have difficulty thinking WPI and RPI have "top ranked undergrad business programs". |
|
Looks like Georgetown ranks undergrad business degrees and MBA's. This list looks like the undergraduate business ranking.
Not all colleges have a business degree offered as undergraduates so they wouldn't be listed. From the looks of it, at least Georgetown uses defensible data, unlike the WSJ. |
99% of Villanova biz grads have jobs in business at graduation. It’s pretty astonishing. It’s extremely pre-pro. Get kids certified on Bloomberg terminals first year so they can get real internships summer after freshman year |
|
Good lord, people. This is a ranking from Georgetown’s Center for Education and the Workforce, and they are ranking something very specific—return on the degree.
Here’s the summary: Majoring in business typically pays off. While graduates’ earnings and federal student loan debt vary by institution and degree level, the majority of business programs lead to median earnings that are roughly 10 times graduates’ debt payments two years after program completion. The Most Popular Degree Pays Off: Ranking the Economic Value of 5,500 Business Programs at More Than 1,700 Colleges finds that the economic value of business programs is high compared to the financial returns from other programs, though not as high as returns associated with health, engineering, and computer and information sciences programs. Two years after graduation, associate’s degree holders in business have median annual earnings of $30,000 after debt payments. The financial returns from a business degree rise to $43,200 after debt payments for bachelor’s degree holders and $51,600 for master’s degree holders. |
I have a kid whose dream school is Penn. Villanova will be on his application list and I know it is a great school. My kid absolutely would be disappointed going to Villanova over Penn. since Penn is a reach dream school, I hope I can get him excited for schools like Villanova, W&M and Babson. These are all good schools. |
|
You would think something as basic as median salaries would be consistent across rankings.
Payscale rankings has Babson at #5 and median first year bachelor's degree salary is $90,600 How can this study show Babson at $61,200 for median first year salary? |
|
On the Street and in the Valley, it is better known as BisMarquee State College.
But in all seriousness, pretty sure jobs in oil and gas are quite lucrative relative to the region’s other opportunities. |
| Where is Colgate university on the list ? Colgate did not make the top 50 and Colgate has econ & finance majors. |
CORRECTION: Colgate has an econ major, but offers lots of finance related courses. |
