I keep hearing middle school and high school bathrooms are unsafe. My kids are at Carson and will be at Oakton. What specifically is unsafe/bad about the bathrooms?

Certain types of kids vaping and loitering in the bathrooms in high school.

Mine has witnessed fights and seen general things that make her uncomfortable (girls in stall together doing who knows what). She still uses bathroom though. Middle school.

Hopefully this will get better when they figure out uniform restrictive cell phone policies and consequences throughout the county. The main thing I’ve heard is kids taking up all the stalls vaping - particularly bad obviously for girls.

Are HS kids really having sex in the bathrooms or is that PP just fear mongering?

This is a problem AI can solve. Put cameras in all the bathrooms without recording or streaming capabilities, but with built-in capabilities to send alerts based on observing activities like smoking / drugs / excessive loitering / more than one person in a stall / etc.

They should also retrofit all middle/high schools with single-stall rooms and communal sink areas, then there's no issues with what gender is in what bathroom because it should be one person per stall. LCPS is doing this with their new HS. Very easy for one staff to monitor what's going on in each bathroom area.

What school? Sounds far fetched. All I have heard is vaping and loitering to get out of going to class but it is the usual suspects.

A certain group of girls like to sit on the floor of the larger handicapped stall all lunch-period at DD’s HS. They just vape, post mean snaps, share weekend party plans, and look at porn all lunch hour.
