Help me choose between 2 bracelet for wife's birthday

Anonymous
I can't decide between a Tiffany platinum single diamond and a 14k white gold blue Nile with more diamonds. Blue nile is about $500 less on sale but I would like something that is durable and can be worn every day.

Unless she has hinted for one of these you’d be much better off letting her make the decision. Jewelry is very tough for husbands to buy because woman have very specific likes. My husband tried a few times and now we shop together and we are both happy.

You are going to need to link them if you want us to weigh in on "durable and can be worn every day."

Your first mistake is saying “you’d like something that is durable and can be worn every day.” It’s what she’d like that is important.

I wear my Tiffany platinum bracelet everyday. I love it and feel it is worth the extra expense.

I have Tiffany bangles I wear daily. They are not chains. You really need to link.

Yes.

Also, never Blue Nile and all that level of chain store. They're crap.

You want a few, quality pieces. She has to choose and try them on. The difference between crap jewelry and quality jewelry is thoughtful design with comfort in mind: the edges of the metal will be subtly rounded so as not to abrade on the skin, the inside won't be hollow, the setting prongs will be double-checked. Make it a date. Half the pleasure will be in the fun of choosing.

Does she wear bracelets? I personally wouldn't wear anything like that Tiffany one daily because it would get dirty very fast from ordinary use because of the chain. That's more event jewelry. With a bracelet anything plated won't be for everyday wear because bracelets worn daily would rub.

If you want here to wear something daily, you should get her input. People tend to be more more particular about stuff worn on their hands because it can.impact every day tasks.

Not a fan of the chain bracelets.

I'm of two minds here. I love surprises. However, if you can't take it back, then I would not buy her expensive jewelry unless you know she'll love it. For our 5 year anniversary my DH had a pendant made to go with our matching wedding bands. I truly loathed it and didn't know what to even say. I would never have bought something like that. But I would have loved to get a beautiful piece of jewelry that I would love.

You can return Tiffanys (or could) so maybe that one with the promise that it's just a signifier to be able to buy what she wants if that isn't perfect. I've never even heard of Blue Nile.

Blue Nile, Tiffanys is overrated.

Are you local? If so, go to tiny jewel box over Tiffany. they have beautiful, unique pieces.

Not that you asked, but what about earrings instead?

Diamond studs. Black pearl drop earrings.

My DH got me something like this in Paris--and there is a huge price range--I wear them all the time: https://www.thepearlsource.com/tahitian-south-sea-pearl-linda-earrings.html?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD-aQ85xgkN1_MhKPWSggmxLopUDi&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlvW2BhDyARIsADnIe-JO2qN1ak6_cZnAYu6Qu2jSuWhWS8b018v4nJRNa-Vn3XUnDwPmlUoaAhLZEALw_wcB

With Tiffany you’re paying a huge premium for the name. The quality isn’t actually better for the equivalent piece. I suggest a local jeweler who makes their own pieces and you can really evaluate quality.
