Hi All -
There is still time to sign up for the U18 House Ice Hockey League this year. One game a week no practices. It is co-ed. Goalies are very much encouraged to sign up. Extra ice time and skills clinics available. Players range in skill from JV to Varsity which makes it very exciting. Most play on both their high school teams and play house league with their friends. Players come from public and private schools in DC, VA and MD (Montgomery and Howard County). Its a great way to meet other hockey players and make new friends across the DMV. https://www.myha.org/page/show/6688047-house Montgomery Youth Hockey Association (MYHA) has been in operation since 1963. We are the largest ice hockey club in the area and one of the largest ice hockey Clubs on the East Coast. We are a private, nonprofit organization; we receive no funding from, and have no affiliation with, Montgomery County. Our organization -- coaches, managers, and administrators -- is heavily dependent upon volunteers. Our Club operates multiple ice hockey programs: Instructional, 6U, 8U, Coed House (Recreational), Girls Travel (Competitive) and Coed Travel (Competitive). We are members of the Chesapeake Bay Hockey League (CBHL) and the Atlantic Hockey Federation League (AHF). |
| House leagues just play throughout the county right? |
|
usually just the other house league teams. Great way to get ready for the high school season.
|
Games are usually at Rockville or cabin John and against other house teams in MYHA. Teams are created at beginning of season to try to achieve parity. My kid opted for travel hockey this year but enjoyed his years in House. |
Hockey has changed so much for kids compared to my day. Students played in high school then college then a tiny percentage pro. Now they need much more training. I looked at my old university sports page and they had quite a few international students. Does your son play with Canadian kids or kids in the Norway area? |
| There are definitely lots of international kids playing in MYHA House league. I'm aware of Canadian, Chinese, Pakistani, Russian and others playing this year. Probably more a reflection of the region than any intentional effort by the league. |
Yes - French Canadian from the French school. |
