Cars Similar in Size to VW Atlas

Anonymous
I’m interested in a car the size of an Atlas. I like that it is a bit wider and longer without having a third row. I think the Honda Passport is likely similar in size. What other cars are about the same size?

Maybe the new grand cherokees. And new highlanders look big.

Just get a bus.

The Atlas does have a 3rd row, doesn’t it? And I would say it’s bigger than a Passport and more like the size of a Pilot. Are you thinking of the VW Tguan instead?

Explorer, Range Rover, XC90, Subaru Ascent, Hyundai Santa Fe are more similar in size to the Atlas, I would think.

OP here. I have a Pilot now and while I like how wide it is, it is a bit too long. I got my Pilot 6 years ago and maybe enough things have changed that I need to look at all of the mid-size SUVs again. At the time, the highlander was overall smaller, and I went with the Pilot because I liked that the passenger space was just a bit wider.

I'm looking for a mid-size SUV that comfortably fits 3 across the second row. I do not need a third row, but I do want more trunk space than a smaller size SUV.

If the Atlas is the same as the Pilot, what options are there closer to the Passport? I don't want another Honda, so looking for other options.

RAV4, RX350, BMW X5, Range Rover Sport, Discovery Sport, Ford Edge, Chevy Equinox, Volvo XC60, GMC Acadia, GMC Terrain

The Mazda CX-70 is similar in size to the VW Atlas. It’s also pretty much a CX-90 with the 3rd row of seats deleted.

The Palisade seats 7.

The VW Atlas is bigger than a Pilot, isn't it? A Highlander seems a lot smaller.

The Equinox is a smaller crossover SUV, I wouldn't say it comfortably fits 3. You probably want to look at the Blazer of the GMC Traverse.

The Traverse is large and has a 3rd row.

The regular Atlas has 3 rows but the Atlas Cross Sport only has 2. The Passport is really the only other direct competitor. After those two, the next roomiest 2 rows would be Hyundai Tucson/Kia Sportage. We have a Tucson and it has more second row legroom than almost any 3 row, including most of the ones mentioned. The only 3 rows with more legroom are the Hyundai and Kia.
