| Toto - something like the Drake? Kohler Santa Rosa? |
|
We have two Kohler Santa Rosa’s. We like them and especially like that they are a little taller. When we do our master bath, we’ll get a third.
Two tips, make sure it comes with soft close lid. That might be standard now but it wasn’t when we got our first. Also, make sure the tank lid fits properly. Those toilets had an issue when there was a gap between tank lid and tank. It was an eyesore. Kohler sent out replacement but it’s not a perfect fit. Wouldn’t deter us from buying third though. |

| I HATE our Toto. I seriously don't get all the love. We bought the self-cleaning and it's so dirty. They way the water channels at the top and it has a weird drain. I feel like it's never clean. All of our other toilets are Kohler, but this had a side angle from the hall, so we got this because it looked less fussy. Even the seat after 10 years has this weird bumps on it I can't get off. I would never buy one again. |
OP here. Yes when I've used the Totos in apartments they seem to get dirty really easily, something about the angle of the interior. I wasn't sure if this had to do with the particular model or if I was missing something. |
We had zero issues with the TOTOs in our two full baths. We just remodeled the powder room and put in a Kohler mostly because of the small footprint that particular toilet had and it has been fine. Not worth overthinking a $200 item. Just pick one you like visually. |

We've had a few Totos in several renovations. (Lots of moving.) A contractor who made nothing on what I picked suggested Toto for the flushing action.
Also, some people like the toilets to be taller. I don't because I like my feet to comfortably be on the ground. I bought a beautiful and expensive Toto the first time, and I felt like a kid with my feet not totally touching the ground. All to say, measure what you have, what you like, then compare to the models you're looking at. You can find all the measurements online under specs or dimensions. |
| We got cheap delta and work fine. |
| Does anyone have the Costco one? https://www.costco.com/toto-drake-2-piece-elongated-toilet.product.4000101786.html. Wondering if I should spend more to get the Drake II. |
| I was thinking about replacing our original 1950s era American Standards. But then I saw how much they were worth on eBay, and decided to just restore them. Great decision, they work great and are retro cool. |
Older toilets are in high demand due to their larger tanks and flushing capabilities for houses with a regular tap PSI water system. You definitely made the right choice as those old A.S. ones were built like tanks. |
| We have changed all our toilets to Kohler Memoir. Whatever the flushing mechanism is, it works. So tired of those rubber flaps that never sealed properly and our toilets would drain and refill constantly. |
| Love toto toilets. Hate the dual flush! |
| Kohler, when the shit breaks you don't want to wait to order toto parts rather than go to how depot |
