I get jealous of people’s Venmo transactions

Anonymous
Is that weird?

I just went on Venmo to pay my son’s math tutor, and I saw one of my work friends pay another work friend for lunch. They obviously had lunch together today, and I got a little pang that they didn’t invite me. I mean, it’s not like I invite all of my colleagues every time I have lunch out. It’s fine. But I was kind of jealous.

Anyone else feel this way? Am I crazy?

You're a little bit crazy. But that's okay.

social media and its ilk are the devil. The companies are out to make you feel bad about yourself, and then they monetize your FOMO in some way.

Yes, this.

This is the downside of social media, for sure! Feeling left out is normal.

Yes but not with Venmo. I don’t have Venmo big my spouse does.
Fomo is real though, even if it’s something I didn’t want to do anyway.

You must be crazy. It's obviously why they don't like you and leave you out of the lunch groups. There is pribably a group chat you are not included in too.

It escapes me why people make their Venmo transactions available for other people to look at.

Exactly. This is the real issue here.

I would never think to look at someone’s Venmo transactions. It’s odd they made it public.

+1. Genuinely curious why people do this. For those who do…why?

Also OP, I totally get feeling left out of a lunch with coworkers you are friendly with. I don’t think that’s crazy. But don’t fixate on it or let negative self talk make it into a bigger thing than it is

I figure they must not realize everyone can see their transactions.

I don’t friend people on Venmo & all transactions are discreet

No one needs to know what I do & I sure as heck don’t want to know “everyone’s hanging out without me”

Don’t scroll OP! What you felt is natural but avoidable!

Yes, I have felt this jealousy myself, sad to say. I think people only make public the “cool” things they do.
I do find it super weird. That venmo even has the option to make these things public. Does absolutely everything we do now need to be a social post?
