Backup Care Recommendations

Anonymous
I am currently a stay-at-home-mom and going back to work since my little ones are in school now. They have afterschool programs at their schools so I won’t need a nanny. I am looking for backup care options in case they are out of school or sick and need to stay home if I’m not able to take off work. Anyone have recommendations? I’ve looked into some sites such as Care.com, Urbansitter, and so forth. Has anyone used them? Would love to hear your experiences. TIA!

We use White House Nannies. They are expensive, and not perfect, but very reliable, they’re always able to find us someone even on short notice, and the “floor” of care is well above adequate (and of course some of them are fantastic).

We used white house nannies for a while but they became inconsistent and unreliable. We had days where they couldn't find anyone and days where they could find someone but not until 10am. We finally stopped using them this year. Pre-covid they were great. They seem to have not really recovered.

PP here. We used them a bunch in the last year, with no issues. Perhaps they have recovered?

If they are old enough to be in school then they are no longer little ones.
