Need replacement Social Security card for 17 year old- does she need to physically go to SS office or can do via online?

Everything seems to be a hassle these days, we have a passport but need actual SS card per our DMV office to get the NEW driver's license. Why do we need this new license again? 17 year old needs to go to the office? They are always dreadful to go to. Tx

Unless it’s changed in the past couple months, he will have to go in. My husband just applied for his online and when he completed the online form it told him to visit a local office, and he had to show them his birth certificate and some other documents. He actually had to go back with something else (A bill with his name and addrees, maybe? I forget. I just remember him being pissed and it being utterly ridiculous.) I’d suggest you call and ask first.

Really surprised you need a SS card, even for a real id, if you have a passport. What state is this?

MN
SSA gov doesn’t say she has to go on or not

You don't really as long as you have a passport to travel. That's the only reason you need it-TSA at the airports starting May 2025. If you're ok flying with a passport no need to get a new one.
