I have at least 5 UTIs a year and I don't know what else to do about it! I already sleep with no underwear, I only wear cotton panties, I drink a ridiculous amount of water, I wipe correctly... WHY?
I'm so sick of this, I had this 2 months ago and now I have it AGAIN. Tried drinking lots of cranberry juice at the first sign so I wouldn't have to be on antibiotics (my previous gyn recommended it) but it's the 3rd day, 2nd bottle of juice and nothing is better. Anybody else has a bladder this F*ed up? Any tips, suggestions, recommendations, advice or whatever is very welcome. |

I had them as a kid and I'm having it again right now (I am pregnant now though). I'm on my 5th antibiotic in 5 months and it's getting REALLY old.
I have no tips since obviously everything I'm trying (everything you are plus cranberry supplements & vitamin C) isn't working. Hope you get some relief soon! |

I'm sure you already do this, but just in case: pee immediately before and after sex, especially after. It's not romantic to jump up and run to the bathroom, but it helps with UTIs.
Avoid baths, especially baths with scented oils or bubbles. |
| Ask your doctor about taking an antibiotic every time you have sex. Many people do this. |
| Too much sugar in your diet makes some people susceptible to UTIs. (includes refined carbs) |
I do this! We're TTC So peeing after isn't an option I take one dose after sex and one dose 12 hrs later of Macrobid. According to my doc, there is no one answer for why this happens to some of us. It is possible DH has an asymptomatic infection that he passes to you during sex. Could be worth him getting cheked. |
| Are you sure you actually have a UTI? I thought I did too, because I was calling my gyn and getting a prescription every time...but it turned out I didn't have an infection at all. Google "interstitial cystitis." Many women just have chronic bladder pain. |
| Also, if you have had that many UTI's and you're not pregnant, I would think your doctor would order an IVP to check out your insides and make sure everything is ok. |
My previous gyn (I don't have a new one with my new insurance yet) always did an urine test before prescribing antibiotics, so I guess it is UTI. To PP - I knew someone once that told me they needed surgery to correct something that was causing them UTI (like a pee backup? I never really understood). But I never took her seriously... |
| Has your doctor checked you out for kidney stones? That was the cause if my recurrent UTIs five years ago... |
| Do you spend a lot of time in the pool? |
|
@17:40 No, I have never been checked for kidney stones, but thanks for the tip. Definitely worth mentioning when I go see the dr.
12:22 No, I don't really go to the pool, maybe 2 a year (and have UTIs about 5-6 times a year. I am even avoiding baths, as I know those are worse than showers. |

Go get a bottle of liquid silver and follow the recommended doseage on the back. You'll feel better in one day. Google it....research it!!

| OP, for years I suffered from chronic UTI's. I finally went to a urologist and they did an ultrasound to check for the kidney stones and other bladder issues. They also checked my urine and even when I didn't have symptoms by urine had a higher than average amount of bacteria in it. They put me on a low level of antibiotics for 60 days and I've been good now for about 5 years. If you are getting 5 in a year definitely go see a urologist. |
