Common App - GPA Scale Question

For this question:

GPA Scale reporting

Is the answer 4.0 for MCPS? Obviously kids can get higher than that, but it doesn't seem 5.0 is correct since 4 is the base for non-weighted courses.

We went with 4.0.

Thanks. And one more question - are people choosing to report weighted or unweighted GPAs? I see it lets you choose. Weighted is more impressive as it indicates rigor, in my case (and in my opinion).

Weighted. (Common App question section also says to use weighted if you have a choice.)

Really? We had the opposite advice!

Scale should be 4.0. Enter the weighted GPA. This is according to two different high schools not in the DC area

The scale is not 5.0.

From whom?

"If your school calculates both weighted and unweighted Class Rank/GPA, report the weighted value. "

They'll recalculate, so it really doesn't matter, but I'd go with weighted.

Our MCPS school counselor said 4.0 scale.
