| My best friend does this. I am always grossed out when I walk into a bathroom and the toilet lid is up. When we host parties, which we do quite often, I usually pop in to check the bathroom throughout the night and I'm surprised at how often it is left up. |

| I read an article that said while lowering the lid does help reduce bacteria spread, there is no seal so there is still a good amount that gets out...and it is not actually a health hazard. |

| Then it’s all blasted against the toilet lid and is forced out at higher pressure through the gaps. Not to mention the lid would be totally coated and you’re touching it with your hand. Unless you’re an expert with your foot, like myself. |

| My spouse never puts the lid down and it drives me nuts. I’ve given up on trying to make a change. Same with leaving lights on. |

| I have a dog and often host a toddler, both of whom are very interested in the contents of my toilet. So, down. Otherwise, I wouldn't care. |
