Anyone seen these at a local bakery? Like with ham/chese/spinach etc?
Yeah, scallion and cheese are common
Thanks. Could you name a specific place that might sell them? Great Harvest only does sweet.
Village Sweet in Westover (Arlington)!
Compass coffee carries a nice cheddiand chive scone. I forget the name of bakery they source them from
Please name a place that has a scone (any variety) that vaguely resembles what you get in Ireland and Scotland.
Op-thanks!

If you're interested in making savory scones yourself, I'd recommend this video and recipe by Alison Roman. I'm not particularly good at baking, but I've had good results with this recipe.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NT7dyIwaayU https://anewsletter.alisoneroman.com/p/scones-two-ways-video She uses parmesan and leeks/spring onions, but you could vary that, of course. Cheddar and onion (or chives) is a traditional combo, as others have mentioned. (She loves dill. I scale back the dill in her recipes.) Note: this and other Alison Roman recipes use seemingly impossibly dry doughs. I always have a moment of panic that the thing is never going to hold together, but it does. |
