Should I buy a griddle?

I have one of those stoves that has a single burner in the middle, and you can remove the middle grate (?) and replace it with a griddle. Does anyone do this? Is it useful? I never use the middle burner, but if I have a griddle maybe I would cook pancakes or burgers on it?

I make pancakes all the time because my kid says I make the best ones and who am I to argue?
Fwiw I wouldn’t want one of those because I use two griddles to cover as many burners as I can, thus maximizing pancake space and minimizing pancake cooking time to make a big batch.
I just don’t get it, other than to take up space. My griddles take up the same space as a big cutting board. But ymmv!

I make pancakes on it most weekends. Sometimes French toast.

I’ve never used it for anything else like meat or fish.
