My doctor wrote me a prescription for Metformin. Any experiences? |
I’ve been on metformin for 7 years prophylacticly. No side effects and well tolerated. I use the extended release pills |
Metformin can do a number on your stomach. If it does, ask your doctor for the extended release pills. They may help. Metformin is the most prescribed diabetes drug. |
start slowly. |
If you're just starting it, prepare for frequent bathroom visits, esp., if eating high carb. |
for weight loss? if so, it is not very effective for that. |
Terrible stomach issues, did not lose weight. Took for about 6 months. |
You can't eat carbs and sweets or you will live in the bathroom. I lost a ton of weight - probably too much. |
Lost 10 pounds, took it in the evening, have no stomach issues or side effects. |
Take probiotics daily with Metformin. It really helps with the stomach issues. |
How much weight can you lose on it? |
At first, could not trust a fart, but I adjusted in a couple of weeks. |
It’s not great for weight loss, but my dr said it the most protective against heart disease, so that’s why she put me on it when my blood sugar was elevated. Always, always take it with food. If you take it on an empty stomach, you’ll pay for it. Titrate your dose slowly and take it with your evening meal. |
I've lost no weight on it. I suggest do an extended release prescription and starting slow like half a day for a month or so and then increase. Also, stay hydrated. |
It’s a diabetes drug, genius. It has nothing to do with weight loss as it’s weight neutral. |
