This is sort of a cross post from DCPS forum. I'm undecided on mayor, but is it too far to post a dozen people and signs for a candidate on the sidewalk to the entrance of an elementary school?
I'm not asking if it's legal (first amendment of course). But is it appropriate? Did other candidates do this besides Fenty? |
I only saw Fenty people and yes, I did not appreciate his volunteer offering my child Fenty swag. No thanks! |
I think it's smart. Good for Fenty. Although I wouldn't care which politician it was. |
It's a public space. Don't vote for him if you don't like his campaigning on first day of school. |
Hah, I think she's leaning exactly that way. I'm not sure that's what Fenty was hoping to accomplish. Good campaign strategy there. |
Good point Jeff. A "good" strategy doesn't mean alienating the people who are already leaning towards you. (I worked on Obama campaign in PA. I get it.) Unfortunately, the people at our school were kind of terse in stating "it's a free country" which made absolutely no sense in an upper NW public school. Handing out pencils with Fenty's name seemed like the height of hypocrisy. It would be interesting to know if any campaigners were at Lafayette. |
