I placed my daughter in our center school for AAP and she gets home at 5pm everyday! The bus runs 30 mins late everyday. Will they change the bus route if parents call to voice their concern? |
Probably not. The buses at our school run late constantly but It’s a countywide problem due to shared buses. A lot of people pick their kids up if they want them home earlier. |
we have this problem at our center school too - 1 hour bus home. I'm glad they offer bussing so I don't complain. I work at home so pick DC up 2 times a week so it's not late every day. |
Nope. My son gets home about the same time. The school is only 2.5 miles from home, but bus ride is an hour.
Spouse and I staggered schedules so I can pick up and he can drop off. |
What do you expect? They cannot send out a bus to pick up a handful of kids. They are going to create a bus route that picks up as any kids as possible for the Center school. The route is going to be long and take time. I walk past the Center bus stops for our school. There are under kids split between two stops. It is going to take a lot of stops to fill up a bus with those type of numbers. |
move back to her old school is quicker option |
I’d just go pick her up. |
Might improve a bit over the next few weeks as everyone gets into routines/routes. But not uncommon for the Center or TJ busses. Maybe look for a carpool for pick up? |
Our morning route is fine, but our afternoon is late, so I pick up. |
Same with mine. My kid's near the beginning of the route in the morning and the end of the route in the afternoon. This is not how the route was for our stop last year.
I have adopted radical acceptance and have not let on to kid that I believe it's a problem. Picking up and dropping off are not an option with work. My feeling is that we will go with the flow this year. If the bus situation makes the center experience poor, then we can always return to the base school next year. Two weeks in though, and my kid seems very happy at the new school. |
They do make changes for safety not schedule. Evaluate the route and see if you can pick her up at an earlier stop. Getting home at 5pm seems perfect for work schedule. |
My kid is on the afternoon bus back to base school SACC and the bus ride is about an hour, getting there after 5. We’re pulling out of sacc because it’s too much for every day. The regular bus stop closer to home is a 15 min ride home. It’s a 30 min ride in the morning.
This has been the only downfall so far with our switch to the center school. |
