A chair in the bathroom—in addition to the shower?

If you have an elderly loved one in assisted living (or elsewhere), do they have a chair in the bathroom for dressing? I’m talking about something in addition to the shower chair.

The bathroom in the AL apartment is huge. I’m wondering if a sturdy chair might be useful for dressing since the bathroom has a heat lamp.

Yes, any extra chairs are always welcome. The shower chair ends up wet, so having a dressing chair is ideal. You can't have too many chairs.

Yes, it's good. A caregiver may also like to sit down if they need to wait during the shower.

Thx! That’s what I was thinking.

I’m guessing Home Goods might be a good place to look for something like this.

Any tips on safe bath mats for the floor?

Definitely. We just got one for my parents as they were using a tippy stool to sit on to do things like put on a bandaid, put on socks, etc.

Is there a dry and convenient place to put the clothes being taken off, put on, changed into? Reachable from the chair.

I had surgery twice and had mobility issues for several weeks; a chair in the bathroom was so helpful. I could sit down while doing my washing/teeth brushing/dressing when it was hard to stand. I would definitely add one if I could.
Note, I used an upholstered mission-style dining chair and it was ideal.

I have a "beauty" style chair at my vanity. It swivels and is good for hair. I imagined it just for me but it gets a lot of use and it doesn't look out of place.

We both have built in benches in our closets. We love them.

Great idea! I would go with something with sturdy legs and back. Since it'll be getting damp, I would choose wood or plastic. Something like this might work well: https://www.polywood.com/lakeside-dining-side-chair-tld100.html?polywood_frame_color=51&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4babztGsiAMVhkpHAR2XVzM_EAQYAiABEgLFxfD_BwE

My mother has an extra shower chair in her huge IL bathroom. They are quite sturdy and the adjustable height is helpful (my mom is short). I wish we had gotten one with arms so it was easier for her to get up.
