honors chem w/o algebra 2

Anonymous
Sophomore is reconsidering their choice ti take on level chem this year. Considering switching to honors chem instead.
Math is their weakness though. Did well in algebra 1 with a tutor supporting. Currently taking Geometry.
Any experience with chem vs honors chem for math strugglers? Any advice?

Reach out to the teacher and ask. They can always drop down if its too hard.

Yes, doing this as well as the guidance counselor (although i don’t have a lot of faith in their advice).
Agree that they can drop if it’s too much. Just hoping to hear from parents who’ve btdt.

I only briefly looked at the honors Chemestry syllabus, which looks like a lot of memorization and other stuff.

They will all have a lot of trouble with chemical reactions and acid/base buffers.

It's not about "algebra 2" per se, but it is about how hard Algebra 1 was for them.

Got try some lessons on Khan and see how it feels.
