Where can I find the OOS acceptance rate for Auburn?

Anonymous
I know that last year’s overall acceptance rate was 44%, but I cannot easily find the OOS rate.

I assume that there is a difference, as there is at UVA, where OOS is below 10% and IS is just above 20%.

Trying to demonstrate to my OOS student why Auburn has become a high match/low reach for them, and I’d like to have the data to back me up.

Anyone have a link to the info? Thank you.

Thank you. I saw that.

But it does not detail a breakdown for OOS/OS rates of admission, so I had a crack at it…

22% of applicants were IS (12k of 55k)
78% of applicants were OOS (assumed from above, and includes internationals)

39% (not 44% as stated above) of the total 55k were admitted for 2024=21,450

21,450 admitted total
7,293 admitted IS (34% of total)
14,257 admitted OOS (66% of total)

The 39% overall acceptance rate
14,258/43,000=34% OOS rate
7,293/12,000=61% IS rate
(Not sure where the missing 5% went… they gave approximate numbers, and I used exact numbers, so I think a few got lost in the math?)

So an OOS kid is looking at 1 out of 3 acceptance rate.

And only 10% of all acceptances were TO. So test preferred is very real.

Low reach confirmed.

Anyone disagree/challenge this or explain the missing 5%? I want to be prepared for the counter argument 🙃

Admission is based on GPA/test score; those data points are what determines if Auburn is a reach/target/safety.

A better use of time would be applying to Alabama and Ole Miss to have safeties.

Not interested in those schools. There is a better vibe at Auburn. And a strong perception of a more serious student. At least according to my kid. It will stay on the list, but no where near the safety category.

Need to visit Alabama before drawing that conclusion about “serious” students. Alabama is an R1 school with a lot of research opportunities. Need to tour the school with Honors / Randal / Blount kids. Motivated and very academic. Alabama is 60% out of state; Auburn is much less (maybe 40%) so has a much more southern vibe. Ole Miss is a different thing — more parochial.

Virginia law dictates the % of OOS students for some of its colleges. This law benefits the in state students. Does Auburn have something similar?

What are your kids’ stats?
Are you full pay?
Will kid apply “Round 1” by mid September, which indicates interest ?

There is no % requirement but Auburn has direct admission programs only available for instate students

My 2024 dd got in out of state. We were basically told do not apply out of state without test scores. BTW she chose what you consider the “unserious” school.
