New Washington-Liberty parent of 9th grader. DC's schedule is wrong. Have been emailing the counselor all week and no response and no change in schedule. Is this normal and I should just relax and it will work out next week? |
Was it something like schedule conflicts for electives or more serious like core classes? |
Does anyone know where to find the General's Period teacher? According to the emails, my junior is supposed to arrive on time and go to GP, but while we can find a schedule in Parentvue/Studentvue (and NOT in Canvas) we have clicked everywhere to find the GP assignment. We found the classes and rooms for the other courses in the Calendar view, but nothing for GP. One would think that since it's after COB on Friday it would be up by now. |
No not normal you call the school til you get a response how is this a question |
Wow, you sound nice and welcoming to a new parent just trying to ask a question. OP, we aren't all this rude. |
The counselors are swamped and it really does depend what the issue is. Sometimes you can't get all the classes you want because they conflict. I have an SN kid and some years I have had extensive conversations with the counselor and we made adjustments in August, and this year it's been radio silence and the schedule looks...okay. At this point, your child should show up on the first day and go to their classes as written on the schedule. There will be some moving around in the first few weeks. |
We’re experiencing same issues. Counseling is short staffed. However, having dealt with the department a lot last year, I know they will address the problems. |
Thank you! Very helpful |
Maybe a millennial parent, they don’t use phones. |
Agree. In this situation I would escalate. You call and then you go in person if that isn’t working. Also send your kid in person and encourage your kid to advocate in person on Monday. The school has events week leading up to school with counselors on site. (How is this a question is rude. Not necessary.) Good luck OP. |
The GP is shown when you go to the calendar in student/parentview. |
Not for me. Mine doesn't have a GP yet. If there isn't one there by Sun night, I'm just going to have him skip it and go to school at 9:20 for first period. They have a new director of counseling and scheduling has been a nightmare this year. I know a teacher there and even they don't know whose in their GP or where it is. She said it's never been this disorganized in previous years. |
W-L is a continuous mess... |
My junior doesn't have a GP listed yet either and plans to go to their favorite teacher's classroom for GP if not isn't assigned one. |
And it will get even better when it’s XL WL. |
