Why was Michael Jackson not completely cancelled?

He’s been deceased for a long time and we had the me too movement. No matter whether he did or didn’t sexually assault kids he had an inappropriate relationship with them. Why are people still fans/ his music regularly plays on the radio?

Because you can't practice mind control. "We" do what we want.

I can’t wait for school to resume so the dumber OPs have homework to occupy them.

Not fair - I agree with OP.

So you would support someone who was probably a pedophile. Gross.

He’s bigger than a celebrity. He’s a legend. His music is/was too important to too many people to stop playing it.

He was clearly so messed up, too, I think people feel bad for him and assume that whatever did was a result of childhood trauma he experienced.

Even still the younger generations that didn’t grow up with him should be rejecting him.

I'm so conflicted. Gen Xer here.
I love his music. Watching him with the Jackson 5 and then his breakout album... he was so pure, so genius.
I think we all know that much of his f-ed up life is related to his upbringing. He was the cash cow for the family, there are rumors of abuse by his father - he had noone to role model for him.
But yes, he likely was a pedophile.
I can't hear his music without feeling deep sadness for him.

Most people are smart and know that you can admire certain qualities and reject others. My kids love his dance moves, and have been inspired to learn and perform because of Michael Jackson. That's a good thing.

I think it's happening passively. Younger generations aren't interested. There's no need to cancel him because there are so many others who take priority.

I separate the art from the artist. I grew up listening to M.J. first in the Jackson 5 and then his solo music. Any time I hear one of his songs on the radio, I turn it up and sing my heart out. His music meant so much to me when I was young and it strikes a chord to this day.

One’s response and relationship with art is complicated. I don’t think anyone’s condoning his personal behavior, they just love his music. (Which is really hard not to love.)

I think Michael was autistic but it wasn’t known about at the time

I’m super conflicted about this.

He didn’t see anything wrong with sharing a bed because he grew up with nine brothers and sisters in a 2 bedroom house.

Michael had plenty of mental health issues especially body dysmorphia but I tend to believe he was more asexual than pedophilic.
His supposed bio kids were not his. He didn’t sleep with Debbie.

I think he mentally thought he was still a kid and didn’t have sexual desire for either women, men, or kids.
