Asked to bring an app. What to bring?

It has to be able to withstand an uber ride and sit out for a bit so that I don't give anyone food poisoning.

Also, I am a terrible cook, so ideas of what to buy would be awesome.

Bring an app to what? A dinner party with adults? A picnic lunch for a group? A work function?

A potluck adult dinner party with only appetizers?

I’d pass.

I doubt you'd be invited. You don't sound very fun.

I’m a little confused as to whether the hosts goal is that this is “munchies while we socialize” or if this is “apps for dinner.” If it’s the former. I think something like pita triangles with humus and/or olive tapenade is great. If it’s the latter, that’s more pressure to have hearty apps. If you can re-heat them, that’s also a bit limiting as many of the best apps are heated. If you can get to a farmers market, a capture salad or a press skewers would be great.
Just googling, I found a couple of recipes that look easy and would travel well that looks very tasty:
This one (but it has basically every food reaction thing in it — nuts, dairy, pork)

just google caprese skewers with balsamic drizzle. Lots of recipes. Pretty easy to assemble, looks nice and will keep well at room temperature.
