Favorite restaurant in Silver Spring?

We have never been there and were going to take a "mini-road trip" over there for dinner with the kids. Doesn't have to be super "kid friendly" -- so what is your favorite? Thanks!

Mandalay is great and very kid-friendly. (Burmese food)

Oh, there is some firestation resturant in Silver spring off Georgia ave that's not bad.

Why not try the food forum-you might get some better answers there. There was a recent thread about hole-in-the-wall joints and many SS places where mentioned there.

If you're from the other side of the Red Line, and want semi-upscale, try Jackie's.

If you and your kids are more flexible, try Addis Ababa (Ethiopian) on Fenton. Mandalay and that fire station place are also good choices. If you're willing to go further East, try Tiffin on University Ave.

If you're going on a weekend night, go to one of those places near the Silver Spring fountain (Lebanese Taverna, Austin Grill, etc). The food is less fun, but there are more walking-around options. You can catch a movie while you're there.

On a related note, has anyone ever been to that Cuban place over near Mi Rancho & Tastee Diner? I've always wanted to try it. Any good?

Pacci's, the new Neopolitan pizza place on Georgia Avenue. Excellent.

Cubano's - the cuban place near Mi Rancho's is our new fav. The menu is excellent, sangria....plentiful, and the owner's are engaging. We take our out-of-town family and friends there often.
