Senior year

Will it be awful and intense like this for long? It feels like so many details to be on top of, from college things like recommendations, essay, common app, to logistical things like senior pic, cap and gown...Everything seems to be happening at once.

Sorry hang on. It feels like the whole year is like that.

Is it better when they are in college at least?

As long as you're not trying to decorate your dorm room like a southern sorority girl, it's really not that much. Yes, I have girls. It's not that difficult.

It was traumatic to haul a kid with severe ADHD through his college applications, I'm not going to lie, especially as he's my oldest and we didn't know what to expect, being foreigners. He's a college sophomore now, everyone survived. But ugh. The graduation trappings, dorm stuff, all that was a walk in the park compared to keeping track of application deadlines, completing essays, sending transcripts and scores on time, and dealing with a less-than-helped public school official who needed lots of reminders about sending transcripts on time.

My other kids are more functional, and we are now more aware of what needs to be done and when, so I don't anticipate it will ever get that bad again.

Best of luck!

Spring/Summer of Senior Year was pretty great for my kid. If u can get applications in by November, the rest is much easier

I thought transcripts got uploaded once into common app by counselor and then it goes automatically to selected schools. Is that not the case?!

They need official transcripts which have to be sent directly from the school.

Right but i thought the high school uploaded the transcript to the common app and then it went into each application.

I highly recommend hiring a college counselor. They are responsible for badgering your kid about making deadlines and that cuts down on the stress taken on by your husband and yourself and between you and your child.

If I knew of a good, affordable one I would do that. Not sure there is near me. The process does not need to be so stressful, I don't get why it is, especially considering it leads to the person struggling through the process given $$$$$$ to the colleges. Why is it not like the old days? So much easier.
