| Do your kids have it? My dd has hours of practice after school every day, and she's also expected to run tomorrow at 7. She is exhausted and want to sleep in. Why do they do this to kids?! I don't get why they can't let the kids train on their own using strava or at least have some evening practice instead of am. |

Being on the team is optional. This might not be the right team for your daughter
|
Please. This is not healthy for anyone. These are teen sports, not the Olympics. |
It's the school cross country team. She's been a solid member of it since freshman year... |
|
I agree OP. I know many of the XC invitationals mean super early Sat mornings. It was tough on the whole family to get my kid up and dropped off at the bus sometimes as early as 6am. He did it but didn’t love it. Hats off to the kids who seem to embrace the early mornings.

My kid hates early mornings in general but doesn’t complain when the reason is cross country. She just really loves it. I am grateful that indoor & outdoor track don’t have Saturday practices though. |
| Yeah, last year mine had 6 am basketball practices. That was in middle school! |
Then she should be used to the practice schedule. |
If that’s your position then you, as a parent, should you Allow your Child to participate? Part of sports is showing up when you can get volunteer coaches, field time and so much more. It’s never ideal. |
|
My kid has 6am practice and every Saturday. He chooses to be on the team.
Don’t think your kid should do it? Don’t join the team. |
| Most high school varsity teams have Saturday morning practices. Its just comes with the territory. My DD doesn’t love getting up early but it is what it is. I’ve never had an issue with it. |
| I assume these additional practices are during the cross country season only? My DS was a swimmer in HS and he had Saturday practices in season too. Is your DD a freshman? Did the coach tell the students about weekend practices before you made the commitment to the team? |
| Yes. No one is doing it to her. She wants to be on the team. If she doesn’t I’m sure there are others who do. |
Then she should be used to it. If she doesn’t want to do the morning practices quit the team. No one is forcing her to get up. Sports and their commitment may not be for her. |
| My tween did a school sport last year and rec sports. Nothing thus crazy. Guess that’s why I have to look forward to in HS. Although she doesn’t do anything “ travel” so might not make school team anyway. |
