Where in MD or DC can I get great fish and chips? Also wondering if anyone has tried the new AGAINN tavern in Rockville where Houston's used to be?
Thanks! |
| There is a good fish and chips place in Alexandria... I think it's called Eamonn's or something like that... |
| I was surprised at how much I enjoyed them at Gordon Biersch. |
| Eamon's in Old town! |
|
The Irish pubs tend to do a good job. I like Eamonn's, but it is only fish and chips so it is difficult with a mixed crowd.

| Ireland Four Provinces in Falls Church! |
| Eamonn's is really good, but the portions are a little small. I also like Commonwealth in Columbia Heights. |

It's been a couple of years since I last had them, but I used to get great fish & chips all the time at Mackey's, on L St. NW near 19th. Ireland's Four Provinces in Falls Church also has good ones. (don't get the fish/chips at Union Jack's, at least not in ballston mall - worst restaurant meal i've had in the last year, I think.)
I bet they'd be good at the DC branch of Againn. have heard mixed things about their Rockville outpost; Tom Sietsema (washington post) gave kind of a mediocre review. |
| I wasn't impressed with the fish and chips at the DC Againn, but we went there only 4 days after it had opened. Maybe they've improved since then. |
| P Brennan's on Columbia Pike in Arlington (newish Irish pub) has by far the best I have had in this area - way better than Eammons. |
| Disliked Againn. Like Royal Mile Pub. |
| I really liked againn - both locations- Rockville is more comfort food though - not as interested in experimentAtion |
| Old Brogue Great Falls VA, back up to when we can't be at the Chatham Squire |
| Eamonn's. |

Samuel Becketts in Shirlington..
Hands down best in the area. |
