face gets soaking wet with sweat in the morning after lotion

Anonymous

I’m not sure if this is fashion or medical, honestly!

This has happened to me my whole life So it’s not hot flash related or anything… I’m 41 and it’s super frustrating.
It doesn’t happen if I don’t wear lotion in the morning after my shower, but it certainly feels not great not moisturizing my face in the morning.
It’s like my face can’t breathe with the lotion?

I put the lotion on after a shower, and I keep a mini fan on my face to stay cool.
But the second I do anything… Get my kids, dressed for school, go up or down the stairs once, my face is basically melting off.

Should I skip the lotion?
Do any lotions not do this?

What lotion do you use? Can you put it on a bit later? Maybe your body is retaining heat from a hot shower?

It often happens to me with heavy moisturizers year round, so I only use them before bed. In the morning, I wear a lighter weight moisturizer and it only sweats off if I go for a walk outside.

Put on some serum and skip the lotion.

Wonder if you can increase moisture from inside out- through certain foods or supplements instead of lotion?

Or do what I do - nothing.

Sure I could look younger but meh.

Are you putting it on in the bathroom right after the shower?

Make the last few minutes of shower as cold as possible - your body temp is raised and the steam keeps your body heat elevated.

Take your shower, wait until your completely cooled down. Put lotion on downstairs.

Second cooling down suggestion pp made. Splash cold water on your face before applying moisturizer.

Yep, happens with sunblock as well. I just stay near the a/c while dressing. Very annoying.

This is what I do in the summer, if I use anything at all. I save all my heavy moisturizing for night and my skin doesn't really need anything for day.

It happens to me too & with sunscreen too as some have mentioned. I just only use moisturizer at night and a mineral sunscreen (EltaMD) that has some moisturizing effects in the morning. The mineral kind makes me sweat less than the chemical kind (la Roche posay) that I had used before that.

SAME never been able to figure out how to manage this.

Glad to know I’m not alone! I felt alone and was so confused.

Sounds like I should skip the lotion!

Happens to me, too. Like PPs have recommended, I have to wait a while before putting on moisturizer/sunscreen because of sweating. I've been known to use the cool setting on my hair dryer when I'm in a rush - blowing my face dry!

Yes, this happens to me. Also with foundation, which is why I usually don't wear it. I opt instead for cc cream and I wait a long time after showering to apply it.

Get the Caudalie Vinopure oil control moisturizer/mattifying fluid

I used to have this exact problem. So I switched out my moisturizer for a facial mist. Right now, I’m in love with rosewater and glycerin facial mist. The brand is Heritage Store and I got it on Amazon, I think. It’s moisturizing but light and cooling.
