What’s the deal with this guy? He’s like a zillionaire, right? And what’s the current big controversy about him?

There’s always been murmurings of a kind of hostile and unhealthy work environment.

One of his irl best friends who’s in his videos came out as trans last year, then in june got hit with allegations of having inappropriate conversations with young teen boys who she only really met because of her mr beast fame so people are calling it grooming. Then late last month it came out her ex-executive assistant who is also trans is accusing her of taking advantage of her and coercing her into sexual favors and just being really manipulative. And slowly people are starting to do indepth research and connect odd inappropriate accounts to this costar and yeah.

Then it also came out that a camera man/manager/important part of the team is a convicted sex offender. For crimes against (according to the registry) 1-11 y/o child. And mr beast was aware but still hired him.

Then the new massive gameshow had so many problems with filming and was apparently really dangerous and had a lot of avoidable injuries.

He's a nice guy who started his business as a kid and brought his buds in on it when he got more successful. But some of his buds are problematic.

The same problems that any bright but not-a-lawyer bro-type has when they grow a business and do not do their due diligence when vetting and hiring. Bros think they're above such petty things and don't want to run a "regular" business. They want to run a "cool" business (and cut all the corners to maximize profit, in this case, eyeballs). And then that's what happens...
