I searched the forum but didn’t find an answer.
We live in Fairfax County and purchased a new car in MD. It’s a pug-in hybrid. I know we need to get the safety inspection done, but do we need the emissions inspection? I’m not 100% sure based on the DMV site: New or demonstrator vehicles being titled for the first time are exempt from emissions inspections for 4 years. Used vehicles of the current and three previous model years are exempt from emissions inspections for up to 4 years. Qualified hybrid motor vehicles are subject to the $2 per year emissions fee when renewing the vehicle registration as required by the DEQ, Virginia Code § 46.2-1182.1. https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/vehicles/registration/emissions#:~:text=New%20or%20demonstrator%20vehicles%20being,for%20up%20to%204%20years. |

Thanks. That was my thought too, but when I mentioned it to the guy doing the inspections he didn’t seem too sure since it wasn’t purchased in VA. He said if the dealership is handling the paperwork we should be ok. |
