Foot care

In order to have nice healthy feet, do you need to do a lot? I was not prioritizing foot care and had very callused heels. After a lot of effort and consistency they now look perfect, but it takes daily scrubbing, hydrating, always wearing plush slippers...Is this something everyone has to do to have nice feet, or do I just naturally have bad feet that need special care?

I use a pumice stone and trim & buff my nails once a week. I wash my feet and then put heavy lotion on right as I get in bed every night. I do all of the above - except for the pumice stone - for my hands and fingernails as well. It doesn't seem like too much as far as maintenance goes.

If I wear socks during the day (I WFH), they look & feel nice longer. But if I go barefoot, they need more maintenance.

Same here- if I go more than 2 days without lotioning after shower or wearing my slip-on indoor shoes, they start to get rough. I also do a few pedicures a summer as I normally wear sandals a lot and this causes them to be more likely to dry out and crack. It’s an ongoing struggle. I do not have diabetes but used to get very deep, sore, bleeding cracks in my heals when I was not more diligent in upkeep.

I started putting Vaseline on my feet every night, especially the heels, and then wearing short cotton socks to bed. It’s solved everything. I used to have terribly cracked feet that would take forever to clean up in a pedicure and now they barely have to scrub them. During the day I don’t do anything special and continue to wear flip flops etc, all the things that dried and cracked my heels before.
