What do you do and why you like/love it?
Social Worker - it is a calling and a passion. I have been doing it 25 years and still love it. It is definitely part of my identity.
Community college professor. I get to help teens and adults improve their communication skills (I teach interpersonal communication). I love finding ways to engage them in face-to-face conversations. I don't get paid much but have summer and winter breaks.
Work in tech, leading internal innovation efforts where we pump out proofs of concept and test newer technology before deploying it elsewhere. Everyone else I work with is good. I have one boss who leaves me alone. I avoid having to participate in the rigamarole of project management in implementation teams for the most part.
Scientist - I run a medium-sized research group but have lots of time to work on my own data/projects. Every day is different, I collaborate with interesting people around the world, and am constantly learning new things.
Fact checker. I’m constantly learning new things, and work with a talented and dedicated assortment of writers and editors. And they’re mostly (though not universally) appreciative of what I do to preserve their reputations.
