The new Crown High School is really close to the Shady Grove Life Sciences Sector with so many labs and facilities. They should open a new biomedical magnet there or move the Wheaton one.

Move the Wheaton magnet out of the DCC to disadvantage the populations there? |
| You have to look at what magnets are truly intended to do which is shifting school’s desirability profiles and influence their test scores, grad rates and college placements for rankings. The providing enrichment for focused students is the carrot not goal. Wheaton has historically been a lower tier school due to its SES demographics which caused the middle class to avoid it further which played into a cycle. Wheaton has really just started propping up its reputation among the DCC which has historically struggled which perception problems its self hence the creation of consortiums in the first place. There is no chance the county with abandon its momentum and shift something from Wheaton. |
| OP is weirdly clueless. |
| BioMedical is also at Gaithersburg, so no, Wheaton should keep their program. |
OP is entitled. |
| I think the question more is should Crown get a magnet not should another school loose one. Depending on how boundaries are drawn Crown could seem less desirable than schools it may pull students from like Wooten, Quince Orchard or RM. |
| No. |
I think OP was clear: The new Crown High School is really close to the Shady Grove Life Sciences Sector with so many labs and facilities. They should open a new biomedical magnet there or move the Wheaton one. |
| Or just open another biotech academy similar to NWHS |
| This is OP’s second thread on this. Give it a rest, please. |
