Accidentally posted in the wrong forum (sorry!) 🤦🏻♀️
Looking for any honest opinions or pros/cons on raising a family in West End Park, Rockville (safety, schools, community, accessibility etc). TIA! |

I live here and I love it. The schools have been great, the City of Rockville Parks and amenities are awesome. There is a lot of community in the neighborhood.
The Town Center is struggling, but I think it is getting better. Right by metro. You looking at the new listing on Anderson? |
Haha yes I am. It looks really nice but not from the area so appreciate the insight. Does town center have safety issues or just lots of turn over? |
| RTC is very safe, just kinda dead save for Friday and Saturdays. The woes of RTC have been discussed at length: the main ones are 1)not enough population density to support all the shops, 2)no large anchor tenant like Pike and Rose, 3)issues with owner of RTC, 4)not really a place lots of cars drive into to shop (because of 2) |
Lots of turnover. DH's office was there. Was much more lively years ago when a large surface parking lot existing across from the movie theatre (easy, safe, in/out $1 movie parking for the day) and you could see a movie and then walk the block over and shop and dine. Once you make the roads harder to navigate ( = unfriendly to cars) and force people into dark garages (even if there is 2 hr. fee parking) the feeling of safety and ease of coming and going declines). With hybrid work and the parking situation and decline in stores and places to eat, we never go there now. I am sure we're not the only ones. Neighborhoods surrounding look nice, but those who can walk and bike over (sorry, no one is taking the metro to come spend the day at RTC) is not enough to sustain a town center. |
