Tennis shoes for kids?

Anonymous
What are some decent tennis shoes for kids that don't cost $70? Ideally, under $50. My daughter hates most sports, so I wouldn't be surprised if she drops tennis after a month. She also will only wear sneakers that contain at least some pink, purple, teal, or glitter.

Do the following count as tennis shoes? (I know nothing about sports.)

My daughter just wore her regular sneakers for the first few years and it was fine.

She’ll most likely grow out of them before she starts working on her serve a ton, which is how they quickly get holes in the toes of regular non-court shoes. Just make sure they’re supportive for side to side movement, like a cross trainer instead of running shoes.

OP here. Thanks. The indoor tennis place said kids must come to class in proper tennis shoes with good ankle support and non-marking soles, and specifically said running shoes were not acceptable. I'm not sure a cross trainer would be acceptable.

We’ve found really cheap Wilson tennis sneakers before. Check online at places like tennis outlet, tennis warehouse and tennis express- they usually have a few pairs of cheap tennis sneakers for juniors, especially from past seasons. Our tennis center also has a small pro shop that always has a few past season models on sale.

For sports, your DD will have to get over color and style preferences. My Dd celebrates the rare season when she gets shoes that fit and come in colors she likes. More often she takes whatever works. Sometimes we swap out the laces for something really cute to make really yucky shoes that fit well more palatable.

At that price point and experience level, just search online for what is on sale and go with what you find.
My son prefers Wilson brand, but he's a fairly serious teen player, and the line he likes is around $135 per pair. I would not get those for a beginner.
