I’m in week eight and I’ve lost ten pounds but I’ve lost nothing the past two weeks. I started at .25 and I’m on week four of .50 and move up to 1.00 next week. Will it make a difference? I’m paying out of pocket but I’m getting frustrated. |
I'm on the equivalent of Zepbound(a tirzepatide) vs. Wegovy (a semaglutide). I will say that my experience was similar to yours. I had initial success at the initial low dose but felt like I was plateauing as the dosage was increased over the next couple of months. When I got to 10 mg, the train started up again, and the weight has been melting off week-by-week. |
Isn’t the therapeutic dose 1.7? Just because some people get results at lower dosages, it doesn’t alter the fact that most people do better on a higher dose. |
Are you tracking your food? I track so I can make good choices and make sure I’m getting enough calories and protein. |
It was similar for me. Don't get frustrated. Remember that technically you are not at a therapeutic dose until 1.7 or 2.4.
I lost 12 pounds in my first four weeks on the 0.25 and then didn't lose any for like 3 weeks. Then I started losing again, but not as fast as in the beginning. This is normal -- expected weight loss on Wegovy is .5 to 1lb per week. It can be faster at the very beginning, but you can't take that as the standard. Be patient, and don't get overly frustrated with lack of loss until you get up to 2.4 (which probably won't even be an issue, you will probably lose again within another week or two like I did). I am at week 13 and have lost 20lbs. So 12lbs lost in the first four weeks and then 8lbs over the last 9 weeks, including a couple of weeks where I lost none at all. FWIW, I'm still on 0.5 because I have side effects and I'm losing, so my doctor is not having me go up to a dose of 1 yet. It takes time to lose on Wegovy, and the weight loss is supposed to be slow. Many of us get excited when we drop a lot at the beginning, but that isn't sustainable and isn't how it tends (or is supposed) to work. YMMV, of course. But be patient. I have had to track my food to make sure I'm eating enough, lol. So be patient. |
OP here - thanks, this is reassuring. I’m supposed to go up to 1.0 tomorrow but I can’t get my Rx filled even though it went in ten days ago. So, I desperately called a friend who is an internist and she was able to get me sales samples that should cover me for four weeks. Also saved me a lot of money. |
OP again, I’m not tracking what I eat but I am eating healthier plus I’ve backed away from the table a few times after feeling full. |
Is Wegpvy still hard to get filled? |
I’m at 2.4 now and losing again after a 3 month plateau. Make sure you are getting plenty of protein. |
You’re looking for an average of 1lb per week once you hit the therapeutic dose— which will include some stalls. Anything you lose prior to the therapeutic dose is a bonus— some lucky people lose a lot at the smaller doses, but it’s not the norm. |
