Do you always put the more important person first in an email introduction?

I know if its a boss, you will put them first. But do you think people "rank" people's names in an e-mail (e.g., this person is more important than Y, even though they have the same title, so i'll put them first)?

It depends on the situation. Sometimes the person in charge of the project should be put first, not the leader nominally overseeing the group.

Would you choose the person who has been there longer? Someone that you like better?

Do people really do this? For me it’s totally arbitrary, just whomever I think of first.

No, I don't let people stand on ceremony that way. Sometimes if there are four men and one woman, I'll put the woman's name first, because #girlpower though.

No, I often do names alphabetically.

I truly don’t care enough for this.

I think who we list first shows our unsconscious bias - whether we know it or not.

Are we talking about the salutation? If it's more than one person I just write "Good morning." I don't name everybody.

In the "To" line yes I go by rank if I know it, because some people care.

I've always listed by rank order. If I'm feeling passive-aggressive I will intentionally list a person last.
