RM AAF

My 9th grader DD is attending RM this fall for ib. She crammed Algebra 2 through a counselor approved program this summer to get her class switched to IB precalc. However, I know magnet AAF at RM is supposed to cover more than a traditional Algebra 2 class. Does anyone here know what extra concepts and skills they teach? I tried looking for the curriculum online but couldn't find it. I don't want her to go into precalc not understanding necessary concepts.

Perhaps the math chair at the school could answer that or the IB coordinator.

You had her cram Algebra 2 in summer so she could start with IB Precalc as a 9th grader? Why?

And now you are wondering if the AAF course would have been better? Are you thinking of switching her back? Or trying to cram additional material too?

At this point just have her start with the IB Precalc and if she is struggling she can drop back to take AAF with the majority of 9th grade magnet students.

At our school, PHS they specifically tell kids not to take summer math for original credit through MCPS because they kids aren’t prepared for next level.
