Can I defrost a freezer without unplugging it?

Anonymous
I have ice buildup in my smart fridge freezer (a bottom pull out drawer).
It's one of those NOFrost smart fridges, so it give no instructions for defrosting.

I cannNOt unplug it because of the way its built into the rest of the ktichen, and it's a rental.
Can i defrost it without unpluggin it? How? Just turn the temp up and keep it open?

Thanks

Usually on the temperature dial if you turn it all the way up there is a setting for off. That's the same as unplugging it.

Newer units with a digital display may have a "showroom mode" where the lights stay on but the compressor is off. Google the model number to find a user manual if you can't figure it out.

Our smart freezer switched itself off when we did not fully close the door on it once. Instead of running overtime like our old one would have this one just stopped cooling. You might try that.

Just flip the circuit breaker. The same as unplugging it.
