Help me understand the roster cap and effects on recruits

| My DD is currently being recruited for XC and T&F for the Fall 2025. She just got off the phone with one of the coaches who talked to her about the cap and told her he’s unsure about the impact on his team at the present time, but will keep her updated. He’s still moving forward with the processfor her, she passed the pre-read, and he has connected her with a current team member. He told her it may mean he cuts older players or reduces the number of recruits, but right now she is still someone who could make an impact so not to worry too much. Just having trouble understanding the logistics and reasoning. The schools that are recruiting her are Patriot League and Colonial Athletic Association. |

| I think it is going to be tough for that class for all of the sports affected. Like you said, teams will be faced with limiting the 2025 HS grad recruits or cutting existing rostered athletes. Tough situation. |

Make sure your kid wants to attend the school even if her roster spot disappears. That’s the most important thing.
I don’t know XCountey, but revenue sports have been turned upside down by the transfer portal (and now the 2025 roster changes). There are 2024s being told they no longer have spots on various teams due to the transfer portal…and that will now be the reality every August. |
